Protecting Document on Download..

This particular section of the WF might not be the right forum for the question. I am building a site for mortgage brokers, realtors and business owners where I will be selling specific databases to them. The databases are in an Excel xls format. I know how to password protect an xls file. What I don't know is how to protect a document so if someone downloads it, they don't go into business competing with me by selling the same databases. Is there some way of protecting it so that the database can only be opened on that particular computer and no place else? I would put it in another format, but pdf is too difficult because it's way too much information and a lot of people could not open up other formats, i.e. dbf, etc.

Any feedback is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks again for any responses!

    You can pass protect it in a ZIP file, but if someone really wanted to share it, they would.

    The best you could do is a members only site, and make the text images so that it will be very tedious to steal all of your content. Or if you use Wordpress: hxxp://wp-copyrightpro (dot) com/

    There's a way to do it with .PDF files. I know Angela's link can only be opened by 1 computer, and once you open them they can't be opened on another computer.

    That being said, there's always ways to get the content out of a database and copy it into another. Heck, they can outsource/hire someone for $3/hr to manually copy the file into a new database. They can print the document and send it to someone, etc... It's unavoidable!
