Does anyone know how I can place a PayPal "Buy" button in my ebook?

Working with Open Office latest version and Adobe 9 for pdf conversion.

Thanks in advance

I don't know your skill set, so don't take offense if I over simplify.

Firstly, you need to copy a paypal button to your harddrive. Just drag
and drop it on your desktop if needed. Now, you should be able to place
the image (and center it) into your open office document.

Now, I have acrobat pro but I'm assuming it's not so different
from Acrobat. You should have a link tool (looks like a chain) on the
top bar of the application (acrobat 9). If
you can't find it, you'll have to dig around in the menu and display
it. Click on the chain icon...then go over to your graphic and click
and drag a square around it.

A prompt should show up basically asking what you want to do.
You're going to set it as a link and add the url of the paypal button
you generated (for your product / service).

Just wondering... if you have OpenOffice, why do you need any other product to make a pdf file?

When your document is done in OO Writer, go File > Export as PDF... and your PDF file is ready in a minute.

Plus, I'd argue a bit with the solution posted above because:
    - any image file that you insert in the document can be "buy button"; NOT only the ones from paypal
    - it is way more important the anchor (link code) around the image than the image itself!

At PP you will get 2 codes for your button:
    website and email

For this case (putting an anchor tag around an inserted image) use the email link!

Thanks Istvan for your help. Yes I realized in Anthony's reply I needed the code. I guess I really didn't ask my question properly.

I can get the "Add to Cart" button to my OOo document OK, but what I did was to use Kompozer to get the code and image, then copied that to my ebook.

But what I don't know is if the link works.

I can't figure out (yet) how to see live links in a pdf document.

      Thanks again

Forget Kompozer or any HTML editor - you should NOT use any of those when editing a OO document.

Can you insert the "Add to cart" image file in your OO file? - I think you can. Good.

Next: click on the image in the document (kind of 'highlighting' it - the eight editing points appear... )
Now in the Toolbar click the "globe" for the Hyperlink.

In the dialog box put the Paypal email link in the Target field. Apply. Close.
    Done.

After saving it as PDF and opening the PDF in a reader (Acrobat, Foxit, whatever you have) just click on the link. It should open your default browser and take you to the payment page.
