    I only buy products that have toll free 24 hour customer support for web hosting and anything related to my internet connection- service provider and modem. You don't want to have a problem with your modem on Saturday and not be able to call somebody about it untill Monday. I don't mind which country the customer support is based in- for example, dLink has excellent customer support, my calls sometimes go through to Singapore and they speak excellent English and are extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

    For easy web design software you can't beat XSitepro- it has nearly every function you would want, and the others like flash slideshows you can buy software for.

    Great tips, especially for the newsletter part, I didn't know some softwares have that feature.
    For people living outside US or the software company's location might want to look for 24/7 support on instant messengers or skype.

    And for additional, don't forget web design software that has great tutorial sites or lots of sites from more advanced users giving tutorials.
