Hi, I am looking at starting my online venture, but I need a web site. What is the low down on Drupal? Good? Bad? Any thoughts would be great.

I'd really stick with Wordpress unless you need something really really robust. With all the plug-ins and support, I couldn't imagine using anything else.

By the way, did you guys know Whitehouse (dot) gov is run on drupal now?

Drupal is the hardest for all new people. so better avoid if you are new to websites. but it is more configurable , that's the positive point but not good for starters.

I would advice you to start with Joomla or wordpress. they have all the plugins and info you might need.

Setting up a basic Drupal site is actually in no way more difficult than it is with Wordpress. Put in your custom theme (which you may download for free or buy), get the needed modules (just as plugins for Wordpress) and enter your content. What is difficult, is customizing it with the Views module, making your own Content Types etc, but there is no obligation to do any of this.

    Hot For Drupal:

    • It’s open source, free and has a large community of developers.
    • Easy Deployment.
    • Very flexible in its configuration.
    • Easy to work with designs and visual elements.
    • 1 installation allows you to create and manage mulitiple websites.
    • Drupal and Joomla! are the kings when it comes to the smokin’ hot Blog designs on the web today!
    Cold For Drupal:

    • Drupal has a steeper learning curve than WordPress.
    • Drupal 5 and 6 are not really user-friendly to the administer.
    • Drupal is significantly more complex than WordPress.
    • There are currently relatively few Drupal themes compared to the number of WordPress themes.
    • Adding a visual theme to Drupal can be time consuming.
    • Support for the free modules can be frustrating.
