PSD to SEO friendly WordPress best method.

I have read quite a few different tutorials on going from a PSD design to a WordPress template. Each tutorial seems to have a different twist and most are only for version 2.5 - 2.9 WordPress.

For the people that do this for a living or experience... My goal is to learn how to go from PSD layout (CS5) to WordPress version 3+ that is SEO friendly and 508 compliant.

I dont think i am on the right path learning from the sources i have found so far. Open to any suggestions or links to resources i can study to make a functional theme. The only tutorial i have been able to make a functional theme came from Tuts+ Network

Going from PSD to cross browser html layout is not hard for me. I am used to making a layout, coding it to html 3.2, then passing the design and PSD off to a programmer (or service) to do the rest while i work on the next layout.

Any words of wisdom, links, tips or resources will be appreciated. Just trying to learn and expand my skill set.

    Don't go through the CRAP tutorials out there to convert PSD to Wordpress, each and every single one will confuse you more.

    The best way to go through this is..

    1) Convert the PSD to XHTML/CSS.
    2) Convert the XHTML/CSS to Wordpress.

    You have to really be a master in HTML and CSS to actually do this. So spend time in learning simple HTML and CSS first.

      So ignore the tuts for now.. Still want to get on it and have been taking apart other people's themes. To be polite... most people dont code so well.

      html i have down.. css i need to spend some time on, specifically alignment and spacing.

      Then i get into the thing of it not being my code, not being original and pretty much the wall i am hitting now. I have a few domains i would like to make a 100% custom themed site and then sell them.

    I'm interested in doing the same, but I definitely do not want to go through all the coding. Has anyone used any services that convert PSD to Wordpress for a fee?

    You can always customize the theme so it would not look like the default theme. If you need a custom wordpress design let me know. Check my sig my site is on wordpress.
