If a self-hosted WordPress blog has, say, a dozen unused plugins, and over a hundred unused themes, is it better to delete them, or just to leave them alone? Aside from the wasted disk space, could they have any negative impact on the website's performance?

I keep only one theme and activated plugins, though i feel they may not have any impact, but i want to have the things only which are useful

Considering that WP has to open the style.css file of each theme, and the main file of each plugin, in order to create the plugins and themes pages, yes, it uses a lot of unnecessary processor time.

As for the main website performance, it probably (shouldn't) have an effect because WP uses 'active plugins' and 'active theme' options to determine where to look and what to load.

the only page it would need to do this is on the plugin page and theme page, which is rarely, if ever used unless you are making changes.

the only advantage to removing them is the theme page and plugin page will be slightly faster when you access them, and save a small amount of disk space. no real reason to delete them, other than to make it look tidy.

I have one i use to test themes and plugins I create, which has around 600 themes, and like 500 plugins ( most of which are deactivated except when im developing it, and they make no real difference.

I keep them all for I have a backup for clients .

Thanks, everybody, for your advice. I'll just leave it alone.

Too much plugin or theme are bad, cause will make your site become slower
