Changed Hosting, Now Zero Visitors - Why?

On January 20th, I moved a site of mine from another server to my Hostgator reseller server.

I have had friends and family check in various browsers - all can access the site just fine.

I still rank the same (within a couple of positions since I last checked in December) for nearly 20 prime keywords - so there is no problem with Google seeing the site.

However, Google Analytics says I have had zero visitors since the day I moved the site. The vast majority of my visitors were via search engines (mostly Google at that) ... so if my site is still in virtually the same rank positions as before the move, why am I not getting the visitors after the move? And I checked - when you click on search results for my site, they do take you to my site with no problem.

And I have not made one penny in Adsense since that day also.

EDITED: This is weird - Google Adsense performance reports say I get page views everyday, but Google Analytics says I am getting absolutely zero visitors (visitors = page views). So, if I getting page views, then why would the Adsense revenue just completely stop?

So ... what would cause the drastic drop to zero visitors just because I changed servers (which I've done before with this site and others without any problems)? The site is showing in search engine results, you can visit the site - but to go from a steady stream of visitors a day to complete zero a day .... ??????

sounds like a problem with your analytics code, it doesn't happen to be in a file that is called with the file path? changing hosts would change the path, making analytics not load.

check and make your your analytics code is loading and is correct.

      Ummmmmm

Ok, that one thing solved ....

But, why would the Adsense also stop the same day?
The code is still obviously working because it is reporting page views each day, but the revenue has completely stopped.

      Thanks for helping out.

it really depends on the site, and how the google code is being implemented .

if for instance the stat code is in a file that was stored at :
    /var/www/thissite/file
    on the old server

and on the new server its stored in

    /public_html/thissite/file

the filepath has changed, and if you were calling on certain files using filepaths, they would no longer be called.

there are several other things, but that seems like the most likly.

if you post a link and what your google code should be we could make sure its loading correctly for you.

Guess you did not understand my post - the Google Analytics code is now sorted - didn't realize I did not upload the file and did not see the error messages at the bottom of the site ... never scrolled down LOL.

It's the Google Adsense that isn't making sense - the ads are showing just fine on the site, so I don't know why the revenue would just suddenly stop.

It's the Fibro site in my sig (and I know the blog is not there).

Was there any time in which the site was no longer live? Might just be that your traffic stopped for the moment because your visitors had no where to go/click.

The site was "down" for just the few hours it took to propagate from one server to another on Jan 20th. It's been live and fine since.

But I could understand just one day of no revenue ... but it virtually stopped from the day of the move through today .... From Jan 20th until now - not a penny.

As another troubleshooting option, do you have a Google Webmaster Tools account as well? That will tell you about any errors Google's seeing with your site. Not saying it's related, but it's easy enough to check and may help you pinpoint the source of the problem.

      Evan,

How odd - you're the first person to say they don't see Google Adsense on the site. I'm seeing it right now, my hubby is on his computer (different browser), Mom sees them in Indiana ... ok, am royally confused.

I didn't make any changes to the files and the adsense code is still in each page file as appropriate. Hmmmm.

They show for me in Chrome and FireFox

Not sure why Even-M is not seeing them. Maybe an ad blocker or something?

Yup, Adsense goes in that white block area. Very odd that you are not seeing them. I don't recall ever excluding non-USA countries ... so I don't know if Canada is blocked.

Ok, so, if the vast majority of folks can see the Adsense ads, the site is still positioned as normal in search engine results pages, and the only change was the move to another server ... it can't be coincidence that my Adsense revenue would just stop dead for no reason after the server move.

And to answer GoLiveChat (sorry, unexpected company arrived and I didn't get a chance to answer your post) - Webmaster Tools doesn't give me anything unusual - site map is fine, no crawl errors, etc etc.

While the site hasn't been a money-maker for me mostly due to not having the time to work on it as I have wanted to ... I just finally reached another $100 payout threshold and was worried that something was wrong. No, there are no messages in my Adsense account to the contrary. Now that I'm ready to do some major work on the site ... I don't want to do anything until I figure out what is wrong with Adsense, if anything ... or if it's just a huge fluke.

you are having a very strange issue, i checked your last google cache and it dates back to Feb 12 2011, here is what it says
This is Google's cache of Fibromyalgia Information - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - www.fibromyalgai411.info. It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on Feb 12, 2011 18:04:17 GMT

so your current site is not the latest that google has indexed, still i dont see why your revenue would drop. has it completely dropped as in ZERO or do you still get page views and clicks here and there?

I have ever read in a blog article, someone can hack our adsense's account and replace ours with theirs.

I hope this is not the case with your blog, but just want to share.

I don't think thats the case her, it would be an insane coincidence, that a hacker read her mind , and knew the exact moment she was changing servers and hacked the new server at that moment.
