Suggestions on new site.

I don't think anyone here is in the local arkansas log home buying market, therefore i'm sure you realize I'm just putting these up for critique.

Before: Ozark Mountain Log Homes, Log Homes and Log Home Floor Plans,* Log Home Kits, Log Home Construction, Log Cabins.

After: Ozark Mountain Log Homes

    The "after" one definitely looks a lot better. Might want to get rid of the links in your footer though, studiopress and unreal references etc. Apart from that, it looks solid. Clear navigation, good placement of pictures...good job!

    While it looks better and is a great improvement, the next step is to work on page load.

    Old
    23 requests ❘ 24.18KB transferred ❘ 1.10s (onload: 1.10s, DOMContentLoaded: 376ms)

    New
    81 requests ❘ 50.88KB transferred ❘ 6.57s (onload: 2.59s, DOMContentLoaded: 2.17s)

    I do realize that the old site is static, but.....

    You need to be careful on your plug-in selection with the new site.
    If you don't need it, get rid of it.
    A good chunk of the page load difference of from the facebook widget and some other social share stuff.

    I didn't go into a deep inspection, so I can't go into huge detail.
    But I would keep an eye on page load times, it will effect you in many ways, including the most important user usability and SEO,

    So once your satisfied with the look, move on to optimization.

    Yes the 2nd Site looks and feels better than the first.. but that's not saying much (only that it looks and feels the same as all the other 4,874,892 Wordpress websites) . The first is absolutely horrible regardless of what it's up against.

      Thanks phpbbxpert! It was mostly that high because i've been testing out alot of new plugins. I will be trying to get it down to 25-30 requests

      True, however it fits the market perfectly. What is needed most for this local market is easy navigation for less experienced web users, soft feel, plenty of Content & SEO.

      Each log home design, project, concept, or completed work is cataloged within page categories so that the owner can easily add in new content(which there is alot of). For example: Kuhns Bros Pleasant Grove Model | OzarkMountainLogHomes

        Functionally<---- Your site is fine. I understand that perfectly. Does it look nice? Yes.

        HOWEVER, I simply do not like Wordpress sites for anything else but blogs... what its made for. The net is FLOODED with WP sites that look and function exactly the same no matter how much CSS and texture packs are rewritten.

        The whole "website in a day" feel of Wordpress just isn't my bag and I can instantly tell if a site is designed around it.....like so many others. That's all I meant by my previous post.
