3WayLinks & WordPress Question(s) & WP in general

Greetings,

I recently took the plunge with WP and have started developing some sites.

I am now seriously questioning why anyone would use WP.

I signed up with 3WayLinks and have attempted to make the connection on a couple of the sites with no success. Imagine that.

I am not new to website development but I am about to pull what's left of my hair out over WP.

For example. I go to add a page resources.php (note the dot) only to have WP change the dot to a dash. Seriously? What's up with that?

So I delete the page and start over (ok, a few times), only to have WP decide to incrementally add a number to the page, such as resources-3 and then turn that into an apparent directory, which doesn't exist.

(I ftp'd in and checked - no directory)

And what about the ORDER of your pages and posts?

I suppose there IS a way to re-order things the way you want them... let me guess - install another "plugin", right?

It's just that I consider these to be very BASIC parts of any site or publishing platform.

I could use any insights and help here with the issues above.

I think I am actually starting to have a light bulb moment here and realize that WP was designed more as a rolling marquee type of publishing platform where older posts "roll off" into the archives.

Not so useful, for example, as a site that provides a structured method of learning on a topic and where the content can be EASILY built into a very deep site.

At least not "out of the box".
