I have a wordpress blog, with wp commerce installed, i have used w3 total cache, but no luck, it did not worked well for me, what do you suggest, btw, i don't have any money yet to buy vps hosting. And right now i am hosting at hostgator - Baby Plan webhosting. The fact is that when you enter to the site you must click twice to get to the desired location, and it is driving me crazy, i think for this reason i am loosing a lot of sales.

You need to simply switch hosts.

I had the same problem - it was something to do with MySQL resources being over a certain limit. I just found a different host that had more power in that area.

E-mail your host and ask them if that's the problem, I'm sure it will be.

How many blogs do you have with that hostgator account?

I'm just trying to figure why, with an unlimited diskspace and bandwidth and domain Hostgator account this is happening, I'm no techie either, I'm curious.

Out of interest, do you have a lot of plugins on the blog?

Ensure you have W3 Total Cache set up correctly and double check the pages are actually cached.

Also bear in mind if you have it set so that logged in users do not see cached pages then it will be slow for you.

It could well be that your host is not doing a good job. A decent host should be able to consult you on site speed up to a point, even on shared hosting.

Maybe it's the plugin causing the problem and not the hosting? I use Hostgator and it works great with all my WP blogs and I'm no techie either.

Have you tested the site speed other than your own computer? Maybe you have slow internet connection or a really old/slow computer.

Also, do you use a lot of plugins on the site? If so, which ones?
Do you have a lot of scripts running or ad stuff from 3rd party sites that are trying to load?

How much traffic are you getting to the site?

The more info you provide, the better we can help.

Have you tried cleaning up your database? Removing old revisions of post, traces of deleted posts, things like that. I had a blog running rather slow a few days ago and with cleaning out the database it improved a lot.

These are things to look at too, too many plugins or scripts can slow you down too, remove plugins you don't really need or that you can replace with code on your site.

Maybe its your internet speed is slow and not the site. Have you checked your site speed using a free tool. Google it and test first. It could also be to many plugins or images. Are you using a free theme? it could be poorly coded. I doubt its your host as they all use the same servers. Maybe you have gone over your bandwidth allocation or have to many databases. I'd ask your host

be careful with w3total cache...if you ain't set it up correctly...it will slow you down...

also as was said...you need to check it as a non logged in user.

In the final analysis...a shared hosting solution is probably gonna be slow at some point. I would suggest:

    1) verify that your caching solution is set up correctly...If that don't work

    2) delete all the extra stuff...if you don't use a plugin..delete it. You probably need to clean up your plugins...get it down to only the essentials

    2) If that don't work you might try a CDN like maxcdn.

but on a shared hosting solution you got the luck of the draw...depends on who else got put on your box...

IT took my WP site 10 seconds to get going and 5 more seconds to totally LOAD

      Now that's what I call "A LOAD"

I called my host and after speaking to 2 idiots got one who said
"have you thought about switching to our newer version of the hosting plan
      which is the "delux grid"

      At "NO EXTRA COST"

I said OK! ...it speeded up my site "EXPONENTIALLY"

So you may need to call your customer service and after speaking
to two idiots say "do you have a more advanced platform?"

I am using the following plugins:
    Akismet
    All in One SEO Pack
    Disable WordPress Theme Updates
    Fast Secure Contact Form
    Gold Cart for WP e-Commerce
    Google Analytics for WordPress
    IM Online
    news announcement scroll
    SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam
    Stealth Login
    Visitor Maps and Who's Online
    WP E-Commerce Dashboard
    WP e-Commerce Plugin
    WP PHP widget

Besides this wordpress commerce blog, i have another 8 wp blogs, 4 vbulletin forums, a torrent tracker, but those doesn't have that much traffc, i would say 50-60 visits per day for each, and a google page rank check script, that loads quick. Also, regarding all the blogs and vbuleetin forums, they work fast, i don't have any problems with them. The only problem is with this shop.

Feu of my sites you can see them on my signature, including the shop: Adwords Coupons. I have made a test speed with iweb tool and the average loading time is 3 secs.

Regarding my internet: I have a DSL 100mbps, and my computer is a quad core of 2.33 with 4 gb ram, so i don't think it will be a problem.

someone could correct me if I'm wrong but from the time someone clicks your link until she's loaded is 3 seconds, that's faster than most

Yes but the rest of my sites, that i have made test speed on them, loads in less than 1 sec, and they are more than overcrowded with images, bigger dbs and a lot of many things.
My question is, what plugin should i install for speeding up my site, are there anymore suggestions regarding w3 total cache or other?

Personally, I'd say you have enough plugins as it is. Suzanne (Sbuciarel) has told me in the past that Google analytics is notorious for slowing things down, there are alternatives that are less likely to slow things down, I believe she recommended me Statcounter. Do you absolutely use all your plugins? Get rid of any you don't.

What we really need here is Istvan to enter the conversation and clear it all up. Suzanne, I have to say is an expert on WP too.

Just switch your host to a good one.Other wise you will keep facing this problem in future as well.
I have also faced such problem before, we must always go for good host not the cheaper one.Because quality does matter.

I am not switching hostgator they are really the best, if i would switch i would go for vps level 3, but the fact is that i want to pay in advance for 1 year for vps level 3, but i don't have the financial resources right now, i have used them for improving my rankings.

Hostgator and other similar hosts are notoriously slow because they are sharing the same server with other sites and accounts. So you might only have 1 site, but someone else could have 30 on the same server.

I have done the following: removed google analytics plugin and added w3 total cache, just like Richard said and now, the speed of the website had changed significatly, i can't believe my eyes. The New website speed is between 0.3 secs to max 1 sec, it loads almost instantly. Thank YOU Richard and all of you.

Just for future reference, whenever you are having a similar problem like this with a wordpress site one of the first troubleshoots you should conduct is to disable your plugins one by one and see if it makes a difference.

A lot of the times it will be one of your plugins causing a problem like this. I noticed your list of plugins, it seems like a lot. My rule with plugins is get rid of anything that does not directly help your SEO or your visitors. Things like 'Visitor Maps and Who's Online' are not really needed and will only slow down your site and your resources.
