I am in the process of making my website and a lot of people have told me that if I don't know html then I should just go for wordpress. I have installed wordpress and found a very beautiful theme but I'm finding it very difficult to operate it. I keep working on it but I see weird results all the time, wordpress is frustrating me a lot.

However, I have done a little html in the past. I don't have any degree in it but I have used html editors for making pages on squidoo and wordpress.com. So I wanted to know if I can use a WYSIWYG html editor for making my pages? Wordpress is not making it easy for me, rather very tough. Any help will be great appreciated.

This is one of those "chevy vs ford" debates!
I think WYSIWYG has worked well for many people, but....
as an experienced developer I'm appalled at the bad coding that most WYSIWYG editors put out.(this includes the most popular top names) It still takes a learning curve and effort for you to use a WYSIWYG.
It would be far more beneficial to learn the basic backend functions of wordpress.

The WYSIWYG knowledge is something that will really never benefit you outside of that editor. You will not learn good/proper coding and html from a WYSIWYG. Put your effort into WP, you will gain much more in the long run. There are so many themes out there, your bound to find one real close to what you need.

Wordpress. For everything I'm having to look up video tutorials on youtube. Making the posts and pages and all that is very easy and I know it very well. I have run a wordpress.com blog for quite some time. But on wordpress.org, the interface is not so friendly.
I installed a new theme and my sidebar is filled with all kinds of stuff but the it says I have 0 widgets with this theme.

Have you added anything to the sidebar? Try it and see what happens.

Many themes will auto include default content (widgets) into your sidebar by default if it's left empty. Add something and all of that stuff will go away.

I didn't need that I just checked the options of the theme and all those things are just part of the theme. I got it now

However, there's still an ad on the header. I'm not able to get rid of that. what do you guys think should i do?
