My current website was built by a client on a barter. I want to redesign my site and be able to change it on a regular basis as well as add a blog and other aspects to make it more profitable. Should I scrap this current site and start over with a wordpress? This is my current site. I need to be able to update it with new videos, a blog and new testimonials.

If you don't know anything about coding a site, you need to go with Word Press. I use it on all of sites and I absolutely love it. Your site looks pretty good and you could easily find a theme that would come close to that layout or even pay someone to put together a custom Word Press site for you.

I have been quietly working in the Internet Marketing industry for over 10 years and have become an expert in driving traffic and SEO tactics. I have a new site all about niche marketers and I would love for you to check it out. Don't worry, this site is all about free content, not a sales page.

Even if you don't migrate to WordPress, I'd suggest an overhaul of your site and get away from frames.

Your current configuration shows the main URL regardless of what page you're on, which while not impossible for search engine robots to crawl, makes it pretty hard to send someone directly to one of your subpages. For example, what URL could I use to go straight to your Services page? See what I mean?

I'm pretty sure this will help with your site's SEO visibility as well.

On another note, you could install WP at www.straylightmedia.com or even blog.straylightmedia.com without having to redo the whole site in WP.

    Cheers!

    Here's what I usually do:
    1. I Pick a Theme (Free or Premium ~ $70)
    2. I Hire a Designer to Modify Theme (~$50)

To find themes, you need to use the search engine. Sign-up for Elance to find quality service provider. The whole process wouldn't take longer than a few days, its cheap and hassle-free for you.

You can even tell your designer to help you doing the online setup.

Like most others already said - Wordpress is the way to go. Quick & Easy updating once the site is setup.

And when you do feel the need to make coding changes, design changes, etc that are outside the scope of your knowledge - Wordpress developers are also easy to find

If want a hassle free task then opt for WordPress. They give you everything cooked!
But if you don't want to rely upon any third party then you must code your website with HTML, CSS and PHP at-least.
The later has the advantage like more customizable options. Though WordPress too gives customization facility but you have to do it their way.

Wordpress is HTML. It uses PHP for all the server side stuff but it still uses HTML to render your page to the browser. You can move your HTML page into WP just by copy and pasting it into WP. Of course you will probably have to tweak the CSS so everything fits the way it needs to.

One more vote for WordPress. It's fast and reliable. You'll be able to make updates with the built in editor. There are also alot of social media plugins for WordPress to drive traffic to your site.

I know increasingly people are using Word press as a way to build their sites. When I was discussing this with someone today, I was told that Wordpress was more when used as a database for an online site than making a HTML site. I do know that increasingly sites are using the web log format for their sites, but is it more popular than the way I do my sites.

Check what kind of CMS did anyone used to create your website. If it is a custom-build one and if it is good enough give access to any web developer to tell you what do they think about the code, CSS and the whole structure of the website. It is a good idea to have a website create with any of the popular Open sources CMS, which have WYSIWYG editor because a standard based developed website give you more control over the content.

      1. if you want static pages. 1-5 pages use html is enough, and good for performance in google seo
      2. if you want to manage your content, use wordpress or joomla, i recommend wordpress.
      3. if you want to build a portal use php framework, i choose code igniter 2.0.
