hello warriors,

If someone can help me I would sincerely appreciate it
I have a bit of a problem

I'm using the "zindi-ii" theme
My domain is(example) todaysdating. com

My problem, the Nav bar looks like this;

Home-Todaysdating-contactus-privacypolicy-resouces

I want the navbar to display the way most sites do, in the example below;

Home-contactus-privacypolicy-resouces

When I made the site I created a page called "todaysdating" not realizing I created something that in some way, with something I did, has essentially "merged" with the "homepage" and I don't know what setting I may have changed to do that?

when i place my cursor over either "Home" or "Todaysdating"
in the nav bar the root domain shows in the status bar, as "todaysdating .com" whether I place my cursor over "home" or "todaysdating"

but the "todaysdating" always remains "highlighted", the regardless of which one I select

in the "reading" setting I have it on "static" and "todaysdating" selected, because there is not a "Home" within it to be selected? and if I default it to "your latest post" on the "front page displays" it goes to whatever I recently posted and I don't want that, as an example I created the "privacy policy" after I created the main content, and if I do that it display the privacy policy on the front page! yikes! so I'm kind of jammed!

and when I look at the site map, it doesn't show the
todaysdating. com/todaysdating, (at least it doesn't show up there!)it shows todaysdating.com/ (along with the other pages "contactus" etc,....blah blah)

I've used themes in the past and I think the page that usually says "welcome! you have not posted anything yet" or some similar type of verbage, I usually replace and in essence that is already the default home page, but tis time I goofed!

does anyone know how I can resolve this?
Your feedback or help would be much appreicated

WHAT I'm afraid of is when googs tries to spider the site (it's already indexed) that it might cause consternation to some degree)

thank anyone very very much for any help

Dano~

    Hi Dano

Have you created a page called Home? Because if you have it should show up under reading/static/home. I bet this is something really obvious that we're missing, or maybe some kind of weird blip with the theme. Hopefully someone more qualified than I may be able to help, if my suggestion doesn't.

    All the best

I have the same Problem. I have a page that says Home and Another page that says "my keyword". If I click on home it redirects me to "my keyword" page. But I want either the home button to disappear or the "my keyword" page to be the home. But I cant since the Home doenst show in pages of wordpress.. Wich I think is the same problem as the OP has. Any ideas?

This things always happen when smartass theme designers put a hard-coded "Home" link in the top menu section - which is, usually, done by listing the Pages of that blog.

    Solutions:
    a) download and open the header.php template file in your computer in a simple text editor and remove the Home link
    b) exclude certain Pages from being shown/listed in the menu
(see the Codex, search for wp_list_pages)
    c) use a plugin (always the worst one because of the resources)
    d) (the best) Use a theme, like the default TwentyTen that has the new Custom Menus option built in
    e) alternative to d) > pay somebody to update your theme

thank you very much for being so helpful it's really appreciate istvan
and thom and steve thank you as well

I did a little manioulation last nite and managed to get rid of the "problem" almost completely

I see my sitemap still shows the basic domain along with
one with the extension "home" so I need to do just a bit more

thom: it was fresh in my mind last nite, but I had created a "page" with the site name "todays datiing" and that page had somehow become intertwined with the home page..I deleted it,,,.... I have an extra domain so I loaded the same theme on that domain and looked to see how the "welcome" on the "will call it Homepage" differed...and basically made sure my setup was similar

then I copied the content from the page and deleted it, at 1st I got a 404 error when I tried to load my domain, but squared that away when I made sure it was "uncategorized" anyway

Istvan if I leave it the way it is now, where "home" is listed in the sitemap, but no longer causing a "double" home page(in a sense)
will that be ok for spidering purposes?
