Setting Up WP Blog, I am confussed.

I am setting up a new blog. I have uploaded a theme. It has catagories, a search box, archives, and links on the right site of the page.

How can I delete them to make it look more professional. I do want to display small banners and maybe pictures.

Thanks,
John Gaddis

Login to your dashboard and when you look to the left, look for appearance, and then widgets. Once there, over to the far right you'll see the widgets you've mentioned. At the right hand side of each one is a small down arrow icon. Click that and the widget will open. Click delete, and it'll go.

For banners or text, you have to drag a "text" widget from the center, over to where you just deleted the others. You release it there, open it, and put in text, ads, banners or whatever you want.

Depending on the theme, you can put the banners editing some of the files, or just using "Current Theme Options", like in the Inove theme.

On the other hand, it seems that your theme already shows some info. To get rid of it, just do as said above and drag some widgets on the sidebar. If not, you will have to edit sidebar.php by hand (very unusual with nowadays' widget-themes)
Another tip is cleaning the original 'blogroll' (go to "Links" and replace WP links with your own, and you got now one free backlink)

Good luck, and do not hesitate to PM if you need more info.
