And why?

The choices are Zenphoto, Gallery, Piwigo, Coppermine Photo Gallery, and 4images

Also, 3 of them can be installed with 2 different script installers, Fantastico, or QuickInstall. Any preference between them? The first one gets all the publicity, but according to HG, the second one has more options doing the install.

I had to ask them a few questions because Fantastico is really not good compared to Installatron in the DirectAdmin control panel. I'm just wondering if Quickinstall is even worse.

It will have to handle a variety of photos and graphics, from 140 x 140 px, to high resolution, large file size photos.

For that choice, I prefer Zenphoto. But usually I'm not using these galleries since long time. Now, I prefer Wordpress with gallery plugin or Joomla with gallery extensions

Thanks William. I hate to install either of those on the site because nothing else they do is needed there. It's mostly a forum with static pages and resource pages, and one of the resources is graphics and photos.

Sounds like you've been at this for a long time and I appreciate the experience. I guess I should try out at least a couple and if I don't get any more suggestions one of them will be Zen and I'll pick out another at random. Coppermine always sounded like a nice name for a photo gallery, so maybe that one
