What should I do with this site?

Hi

To learn about databases I created this site - ukproducts4u.co.uk. It uses affiliate window database downloads. The site is more or less automated now with the databases updating themselves at regular intervals. I have learned tons about databases whilst getting everything to work. I have also made tons of mistakes too; well you learn by them don't you! Trouble is I know very little about seo and getting traffic...

I have done and am doing the following:

1. I have submitted loads of sitemaps to google and the site is now getting indexed - over 60,000 pages and rising.

2. I added a special offers forum which is more work than it is worth.

3. I am redoing sections to make user friendly urls - such as the cooking and tv sections (already done).

Question I want answers to really are:

1. Can this site be made to be Google and search engine friendly?
2. Is it worth bothering with or should I put it down to a learning experience and start creating other viable websites?
3. Where can I learn about seo and ranking etc - which is the best affordable course/book (that also caters for this Google Panda update)
4. What would you do with it if it was yours?

Thanks
Any tips appreciated.

SEO is always viable, possible, and worth it.

The fact that you have a database driven website with over 60,000 pages is awesome for SEO, and you just need to setup the display of the website to enclose certain points of content from the database into certain HTML tags to improve SEO.

Every page should have a unique title, meta description tag, and meta keywords tag. The unique title should also be displayed on the page inside of a H1 tag. H1 tags are large, so you'll want to go into your CSS and setup a style of display for H1 tags.

Friendly URLs are key, and ideally, the title of each page (and it's H1 tag) would mirror the friendly URL, without the dashes of course.

If you're redoing pages to have friendly URLs, include the SEO work along with the function of changing a pages URL.

The forum may not be more trouble than it's worth, especially if you start pulling substantial traffic from 60,000 pages of content, it could grow very fast.

As far as where to learn SEO, don't pay for anything, all of the information is available for free, and I would just Google until you find a good guide from a trusted source, and go from there. Some SEO is better than no SEO, and the more you learn, the more you can implement, and the gains should be worth the time, with that much content involved.

I would not walk away from a website with 60,000 pages of content without at least giving a thorough shot at SEO.

    Good Luck!

    Robert

I have given some thought to this site and decided to put it on hold for now. Thing is I am not interested in the content really which makes it very hard for me to write articles and so on.

I have decided to create a software site - Computer Software 4u - and use my new database skills to enhance the software I created the site with. I can download trial software titles and do complete write ups which I am very interested in doing. I will also be applying all the Seo tips as mentioned above.

      Thanks
