RocketThemes or YooThemes for Joomla website?

Anyone have some experience developing websites on either or both of these frameworks? I've got to create a sleek looking site for a local audio/visual company. Both of them have some great templates and a suite of tools and I can't choose between them so far.

I like rocketthemes best myself, but I'd recommend split testing between 2.... I think your client would appreciate that, wouldn't you agree?

I have been using RocketTheme as a developer since 1996. Their templates are always up to date in technology and SEO considerations (Yes, templates DO make a difference in SEO!), their service and forums are wonderful, and their framework is the most flexible I've ever used.

Also, I am not a "buy-and-play" kinda girl. I MESS with the design. NONE of my sites LOOK like the original template. I have found that for my needs, RT has a more flexible framework with the gantry grid, often 60+ module positions, and full template control.

I have also worked with YooTheme. They are good. A little behind, IMO, but structurally sound and worth your time. Sometimes I find their CSS logic a bit awkward, but a few clicks around with Firebug, and I can manage it easily enough.

Both are good. RT is generally my #1 choice, though. I've probably built 150+ sites with RT, and only about 15 or so with YooTheme.

I took a chance and went for RocketThemes before I read your response so thanks for your detailed reply, it gives me a lot of confidence in giving them a go. I've only really used Wordpress in the pass so this will be an interesting experience playing around with Joomla. Thanks for your detailed response Heather, really appreciate it!

By the way, do you know how to change the text in that footer bar popup? I need to get it changed from Designed by RocketThemes and can't for the life of me find where to edit it.

I think Rocket themes is better. But, for myself, I more often using Gavick than rocket themes or yoothemes. May be you can check Gavick (for another alternative)

Yep. It's usually an image. You can replace it (find it with Firebug), or just go into:

Admin > Extensions > Templates > Your template

And I think it'll be in "Advanced."

I can't really answer your question about which is best, but I did find out today that RocketThemes turns over $2m USD a year. Crazy amount of money for a something as simple as a theme creator.
