How to get dozens of designs from 1 theme

One of the most frustrating things for me when creating niche websites was finding the right theme and design.

A few months ago I decided to use my knowledge of CSS to take some of the most popular WordPress themes and give them an overhaul.

If MTV can pimp cars, then I sure should be able to pimp themes

I started off with the popular WP Framework theme, and changed the CSS code to generate a few designs I like. I meant to share this with the community a while back, but got busy with other projects.

You can download the CSS Codes here. I included a short video with instructions as well.

Enjoy!

  • I hear ya on that! I pimped out my favorite theme, as well. I'm a programmer, but I use WP because it saves me weeks or even months of coding time. On top of that, I don't need a graphic designer anymore, either.

It would be clearer and more practical to make those files child themes...

Thanks Istvan, never used child themes before. I'll definitely look into it, but it seems like a little more work (then again nothing is easy).

My goal is to make it as easy as possible by keeping it simple. One of the things I love about WordPress is the ability to modify the CSS on the fly. Anyone can copy and paste to give a whole new look to their site.

This of course can be scaled to also include custom headers and backgrounds for different designs.
