Wordpess Menu - Stressed Out - Need Help!

I'm in serious need of some help with my WP menu!

I can't stop new pages appearing in the top navigation menu bar.

With all of my previous sites I have created custom menus so I can section off different pages into the side bar & top navigation bar.

After the menus are created, I then go & create a page. The new page will not show up anywhere until I add it to one of the created menus.

For some unknown reason with this new site, every time I create a new page it keeps adding to the top navigation bar.

This is a problem because I don't want to end up with every page on the site in the top navigation bar.

Does anyone know how I can sort this problem?

Thanks

    Hi,

It seems you have checked Automatically Add New top-level Pages

Go to Menu's page, and UNCHECK - Automatically Add New top-level Pages, line.

    regards,

    Thanks for the help Mohsin.

Unfortunatly this has not solved the problem. - the boxes are unchecked

I've tryed everything, I've even deleted all the pages on the site then re published them but no matter what, I just can't seem to stop pages being added to the top navigation bar.

I have 2 custom menus created, I published a test page & the page is added to the top navigation bar but this should not happen. The page should not appear anywhere until I place it into one of the custome menus.

    This is a real pain!

It may have something to do with the theme you're using. Have you used the same one before? Some of these themes have a plethora of options and can be pretty confusing.

I agree. Pop in a new theme and see if you have the same problem.

I'm using the flexibility theme 3

I'm using this theme on all of my site, 6 of which I have no problems with but the 2 new ones I've set up are giving me this problem.

I'll have a dig around the theme setting to see if I've missed something.

This never is a "WP issue" - it is a theme-specific problem, so you will have to find experts for your theme and not WP-experts to solve it.

Your best bet is the support for the theme... e.g.

When its' not the theme... it's always the user!

I am not familiar with that theme but I am familiar with user errors. You must be doing something wrong with the menus, sorry.

Well that's brilliant! Wordpress NEVER has had any problem.

Just another one of your usually cheerful, helpful, informative posts.

        Good grief.

I didn't say that. You need reading lessons! (I hope this is helpful enough for you...)

Yes... and what's even worse for you: I was right!

Quote from the OP's PM to me:
Istvan, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me with this.
I've been sitting here for like 3 hours trying to figure this out, finaly it's sorted - I can sleep now! Thanks again Barry

And all I did was to tell him what was he doing wrong and how to do it properly.
So, was it a WP glitch? - Nope.
Was it a theme issue? - Nope.
Was it the user...? - Yes.
