Creating Website - Need Thumbnails Certain Size - What App To Use

So, I'm working on this site for a friend and I need to create thumbnails of 100x80 and I'm trying to figure out what..if any...would be the easiest program/app I could use to accomplish this?

So far, I've installed a small app called "thumbsite", but it doesn't allow for both attributes (100x80) to be set.

I did some more research and came across an app called "ScreenHunter", but it to doesn't allow for the size attributes!

Do any of my fellow warriors have some recommendations of some other 3rd party apps that allow you to create thumbnails based on specific size attributes?

Thanks for any/all feedback!

You could use any image editor, like Photoshop, Gimp, Paint...etc.

Or if the site you are working on is Wordpress, just set the Media Settings to your desired thumbnail size and upload the images to the media gallery and it will resize them for you

Setting width and height for the thumbnail might produce problems because the source pics may not have the exact same aspect ratio all the time.

Any solution that allows to set both values fixed must also have a solution for dealing with different apsect ratios of the original image.

Just something to check for when deciding what to use.

I like Irfanview. You can download it for free at IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide (but if you use it, send him a PayPal donation).

It is fast and simple to use. You can do batch edits, resizing and reformatting a group of images at once, too.

    Love it!

Do you need to do them in bulk, or do you need relatively few done? Using tools other than basic graphic programs such as Photoshop or GIMP could be overkill. Also, as Ralf pointed out, if you're resizing pictures they generally need to have the same aspect ratio of 100x80, meaning that the ratio of width to height should always be 5:4. Pictures get stretched and squeezed if the original is too far off of the intended ratio.

Theme of the website must match the contents it contains and services/products you are offering. Use graphic program like photoshop to create images.

    Ray,

IrfanView will do exactly what you want and a bit more. It allows for resizing with aspect ratio or without. I have used it for years and love it.

    Thanks,

+1 to Irfanview! But like others have said, you should try to avoid resizing images of different w/h ratios to a set ratio. Some items will be squished horizontally and some vertically. Better solution is to select a set width OR height and let the program resize proportionately. This will give much better results.

Can you share more about your project?

GIMP and Photoshop are not hard to learn the basics.
