Added to the download page problem I now have a problem with IE not displaying my blog site properly. My site displays perfectly in Foxfire but in IE all the widgets which should be in the right sidebar show waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the bottom in the left sidebar.

url for site www.millionairemindsetonline.com could someone please help a very technically challneged me out please????????? I am sleep deprived over this and just don't know what to do. Have googled/yahoo'd but cannot find an answer. Seems though that IE doesn't like some coding, that's about all I could gather from hours/days of searching.

IE will drop a sidebar it thinks is too wide for the page down to the bottom. Try making your sidebar (and/or images and other things in your sidebar) narrower.

ugh - that one is all floats and margins. you could also try reducing sidebar padding a bit. Just back up your CSS sheet first - you may get some odd results when you try tweaking.

Same here Caleka, only IE. Thanks for the answer Kathy but to be honest I do not know how to do anything like that, I am using a Theme which I am not about to change as I like it. I don't know anyone here who could make the changes you suggest. LOL all I know is CSS stands for Cascading Sheet Style after that fraid I am totally lost. I can probably manage to back up the files, wp has an icon or something which does that. Thank you for the answer though, I may just have to leave it showing badly in IE for a while though, as anywhere here in Adelaide is closed, so I will not be able to take classes to learn all the coding until next year. Am wondering if the opt-in form made the difference, I think from memory (about a week ago after 15 hrs a day just on blog) it was o.k. in IE - will try removing that LOL that much I can manage

No just tried removing the opt-in form, doesn't make any difference. I couldn't have tried it in IE before, LOL too darned tired to think, sleep depravation is taking over big time. Maybe I'll just have to put a 'warning' on the page that it doesn't load properly in IE - just a temp. measure. I used wp and the theme to make life easier as I don't know coding - oh brother! LOL never have liked IE now well unprintable what I think about it.

Just received an email from a friend back in the States, I asked her to view in IE also - she's normally a firefox user - seems in IE 7 it works fine. Caleka, which version of IE did you use? I just checked on this computer and we have version 6.2 which I think is way out of date - as I said never use IE. Maybe Caleka try it in IE 7? Not sure which is the latest IE though.

      Hi Mary,

I've got IE7 and I just checked out your site, it looks fine to me, which is more than can be said of mine.

I'm getting a headache looking at the code now but I think it could have something to do with the tags on my site, apparently they are not supported in IE. If I start messing with it now though I could just end up getting more frustrated as it's getting late here.

I never use IE either only to check my pages and a friend of mine in the US checked mine for me too..it's the same :-(

      God I hate IE!!

      Thanks anyway Mary,

      Carol

I was going to say the same as Kathy, when the sidebar is down, it's always been an issue with the side bar or sidebar space being to small, not fitting in the section it's suppose to.

Sadly IE still has too much market share to ignore.

When I mess with CSS, I usually work through it, changing one thing at a time, checking to see if there is a change and I hit the right one, or change it back and move on to the next.

So hard to edit CSS when you didn't make it yourself, trying to find the right class, ect.

Hi Sadly Ron you're right - agree with Caleka hate IE!!!!! I haven't had the courage yet to mess with the CSS - I'm just too frustrated and over-tired. Know how you feel Caleka, my eyes were watering from over 12 hrs. of trying to figure it out - it was 5.30.a.m. when I finally called it quits!

What I'm thinking of doing is writing to the people who made the theme, they maybe able to advise what to change to get it to work in IE. Figure they made the theme, so they should know the coding, effects in IE etc.
Though when I originally chose my theme, it did say it had been tested in IE. My problems appeared to have started from when I added the widgets to the right hand side bar - so it has to be a side bar problem. Am still working on the other challenge, how to get my book to download - can download from a private page in WP - after uploading the book to my host site - now cannot get the url to come up in browser or welcome email.

LOL oh the joys of computer work!!!!!!!!

Hang in there, I am making more enquiries re the side bar problem.

Thanks caleka for checking my blog, seems in IE7 at least for some people it comes out o.k. with both side bars showing what they should were they should be - not the right one waaaaaaay down south on the left side!

When I have the courage to mess with the CSS I'll save as you do, I use Note Tab Lite - when I do venture into the mysteries of html - my limit.

Hi Caleka, so glad you are one step further. I ended up writing to the person who made the theme, she's been terrific in helping me and we know have my site showing properly in both IE and Firefox but still I cannot get the download page up in my browers but it is showing perfectly in her test browers! I think computers develop minds of their own - just to frustrate us all.

Have a wonderful time away Caleka, sounds like you deserve the break.

Maybe write to whoever made your theme, they maybe able to help you. Sorry I cannot help further but I'm a writer not a web designer, thinkI shall have to learn though(:

Wordpress can be frustrating if you don't know what to do. When the side bars are not showing and being pushed over, your page is not wide enough and side bars are too skinny. The opt in box or ads you are trying to add are wider then your side bars. I don't know a whole lot about CSS but have created 100's of wordpress themes with a software called artisteer. This has been a godsent. You can control the width of your theme sidebars header and can create great custom themes with this software.
It isn't free but if you are creating multiple wordpress themes it is worth every little cent. artisteer.com Hope this helps.

Thank you Monsadvice, I have noted Artisteer. Good program to have that is for sure. Seemed to have fixed the IE problem with the sidebars on all but one page now. Very frustrating as this only happened with IE.
