I have wordpress installed on my site. It is not "open" yet, as I am having problems with it.

I am trying to get my "home" page to be the page that shows up when somebody logs onto my site. I have tried "numbering" it, but it doesn't move no matter what number I put there.

Can anybody help me?! If you can help, please talk reeaaallllyyyy slow to me - I don't get this stuff at all!

Thanks so very much!

Don't exactly understand what you mean by
I have tried "numbering" it, but it doesn't move no matter what number I put there.
but what you want to do is relatively simple. Create the page from Write > Page. Then from Settings > Reading, click the radio button for 'A static page', and select your page from the dropdown list, click the Save Changes button.

    Easy as that.

    Erin,

Hi. I'm also not sure I understand your problem. If you are installing WP in your root directory, everything should be fairly straight forward. In your admin panel, go to "Options," then click on "General." Go to the boxes labelled "WordPress Address (URL)" and "Blog Address (URL)" and type in http://www.domain.com. That should cause the blog to show up when a browser is pointed at your domain ("pointed at" in this case means your domain in the browser URL address bar).

If you are trying to get one particular page or one particular post to "stick" as your home page, then again, you will go to "Options" but this time click on "Reading." You should now be able to set which page you want to stick as the home page. There are also a number of free plugins that allow you to do the same thing. The instructions I've given are correct for WP 2.3.3. If you are using a later version, the appearance of the admin panel may be different, but the instructions should be basically the same.

Hope this helps. Please let us know.
