Do you have a cpanel hosting account? If so, simply go into your dashboard and find fantastico and use that. If you have scriptoliscious or softoliscious, they have automatic installers as well.

Not all cpanel hosting uses fantastico. I use hostmonster for my hosting and they have cpanel but they do not use fantastico. They use simple scripts to install wordpress and other software.

  Otherwise download the installer from wordpress.com, upload to the root of your webserver and the run installation following the step by step instructions.

Some also use Softaculous but each are fairly simple to navigate around. And if you do need help your web host should be able to direct you in the proper area around their panel (even if they use one that is not main stream).

Use the One-Click and install through Fantastico.

Look for any cPanel host! Also look for those recognized by WordPress because they are frequently updated with the latest version.

NestZone and Fergsi not all cpanel hosting uses Fantastico. Read my comment above.

i used this one when i installed my wp this week, this was my first time and it was quite simple to do. watch the video... i find videos much easier to follow than long blocks of text instructions

Just another thought I discovered recently with a new client . . .

Be sure to check your hosting is setup for Wordpress. Depending on what hosting choices you made when you purchased your hosting account, you may or may not have the components necessary to setup a Wordpress account.

How do you discover this? Go back to the homepage of your hosting company and read through the list of what they provide for the hosting package your selected. If you don't see WORDPRESS listed, ASK!!

With a recent client, we discovered he bought the cheapest hosting and it did NOT include a database or PHP so he couldn't setup WP.

beck13's video is informative, but definitely the hard way to go about it. Use Fantastico (which you'll find in your cPanel) and it does all the work in 3 clicks!

You will pay for hosting anyway. Its just a matter of time. When you start making money from your site and get serious about IM you'll buy a hosting plan

I mean its only $62 a year and you get heaps of stuff with it.

I've got 3 hosts and VPS just for one site!
