where can i buy a domain with .com.au? i normally use name cheap but i cannot find any .au domains there? how come? and wheres the next best place?

MelbourneIt is the largest & original domain name register in Australia although now there are lots of other domain name registers. Just google for them.

  There's also ziphosting.com.au - they're around the $10 mark.

  (Remember when MelbourneIT used to charge around $75 for a .com.au and you had to prove you had a registered business name that matched the domain? What was that all about? Thank goodness that's gone now!)

Yes, those cost were horrific. Plus the paperwork you were required to submit!!!

We registered our first .com.au in the early "90s and it cost a fortune yearly for some time. It good that they have come to their senses.

If you're still looking, I have used Webcity Webcity Web Hosting - 100% Australian - 24/7 Support for almost 10 years and have not had any problems.

I think they do require you to register two years at a time though. Around $11.00 pa. for a .com. Not sure of current .com.au prices, but you can get them from them.
