Hello, may I start by saying I am aware that I am a total idiot! Firstly I didn't have a backup to any of my 9 sites (I have backed up all my sites now!) and secondly, I deleted my wordpress site by accident when I was using Filezilla, not Filezillas fault I just somehow manged to do something majorly wrong while uploading files for a totally unrelated squeeze page.
Is there any way possible I can get my pages and posts back? I have one page and one post from putting my site name in " into google and copy and pasting the cache version but I cannot find any others. The site is only about 7 months old but I spent alot of time and effort in promoting it. Thank you for any advice.

Contact your host provider right now and ask them to restore the last backup they have for your account. Tell them that you deleted everything and they should have a backup that is newer than a week old. Once they restore it, you should be good as long as you didnt delete your database.

Unfortunately I have been trying to restore my site for two weeks now so I think all of the backups will be of my semi restored site and not of my original one. Thanks.

If your hosting company can restore the site then you might be out of luck I hate to say... It might cost a dollar or two more but I always tell clients to host with company that does daily backups...

Never know when something like this will happen or you get hit by a hacker.

I think that your host company can help with this. At least, few times ago a friend of mine had the same problem and host company helped him to restore posts.

Yeah, usually we need to depend on the hosting provider. Is there an offsite backup etc? I should say that's the only way to get it back. But at least a lesson is learned, that's the main part. We have to learn it through the hard way but it pays off well.

If you've only deleted the site files in Filezilla then your database is still intact. All you have to do is re-upload Wordpress and hook it back up to your database and you should be good to go.

If however you deleted the database too then that's another story all together.

      Hi Pollytoast
Don't fret girl, all is not lost

Your post and page contents are retrievable because they are held within mySQL database(s). As long as the database(s) is/are still intact you should be able to get most if not all of the sites up and running again.

You will need to know the name of your mySQL database name, username, password - if you don't have these written down somewhere else, like you should, you can get the database name and username from cPanel and and you can create a new password whilst you are there.

Once you have that information you can upload wordpress files and edit your config file with the database name, username and password and you should be able to see the contents, to a large extent, how much you see depends on the themes and plugins you were using.

Also within the mySQL database you will find your WP admin username (use phpAdmin to look at the user table). Use the "forgotten password" link on WP login page if you do not know what the password is (change it for a new one as soon as you login)

The first time you login into WP as admin you will most likely get a list of failed plugins - make a note of them an use this information to re-install them.

Like I said all in not lost you just need to know how to approach the recovery, but for god sake make sure you backup each of the sites from now on - even if you only take a database table backup thats better than nothing at all.

      Best of luck

You have deleted WordPress files as well as your uploaded files. However, your WordPress database should be fine. All your posts and pages other than actual files such as images and attachments are saved in database. So you can get all your text content back. You will have to upload images and files if there is no backup available.

Do you still have access to the database for the Wordpress installation?

If so, the site can be restored - let me know if you need help with this.
Then the others flocked to the thread. !

Your host should provide backup but i wouldn't rely on them for anything. At worst they should have a weekly backup
