Yahoo's ranking algorithm

Yahoo's ranking algorithm simply doesn't make any sense any more. We are very active in our SEO effort and used to rank well in Yahoo, but since Sepbemter 08, our ranks dropped. We did a in-depth analysis on some of the guys listed on 1st page on our competitive keywords, and alot of them don't even have any decent backlinks. Many of these guys have done nothing more than just spending whole bunch money on Yahoo PPC, which create a massive zombie ad network. What we found is that the cached pages of these zombie ad network will help boost their ranking in Yahoo for a short period of time. After that, if they don't keep invest in PPC, their rank will drop. I'm starting to wonder if Yahoo is favoring people who throw their money with PPC ad campaign?!!!!
