Has anyone else had problems with MM Hosting

I have been with MM Hosting for 6 months. I read that many people here have had good luck with Hostgator. My contract with MM Hosting is about to expire and I decided that I would make the switch to Hostgator as so many of you have recommended.

Yesterday they tried to charge my visa for renewal. I explained that I would not be renewing when my account expires in about a week. Today I tried to login to get my files and they have locked me out. Then I find out that they have deleted my website. After trying to make contact with them all day long I finally got a hold of someone tonight. He confirmed that they had deleted my files and said he would see what he could do. Within fifteen minutes he had locked me out of the rest of their website and they do not respond now.

Although this wasn't the best website on the internet, I spent weeks putting it together.

I am sick to my stomach.

    If you're contract is still active, they can't do that. Send them a polite note telling them you'll take legal action if they don't fulfil their end of the contract and you'll probably have access again.

    Do you not create your site locally? I have all my site files on my computer, backed up daily. (More often if I've done a lot of work on it.)

    I've been with the same host for several years and will never change. It's neither of these.

      I agree with Cheryl. I also back up all of the web sites I do on an external hard drive and a Flash Drive, which goes in my car when I leave my studio, to protect me from computer crashes as well as fire or theft at the studio. I have too many clients counting on me to put my business and reputation in the hands of a hosting company or Bill Gates' minions.
