I want to rank a youtube video, do you think this is much easier than ranking in Google with a website? If so, why is this so? Do you still apply similar SEO strategies?

  • yes it is definitely easier to rank YouTube videos. Because think about it, a website has rankings and google can discriminate against one website and another, right? But, with YouTube it's one website, it seems the same to them regardless the video, it's coming from the same site. Therefore logically as long as you include an accurate title and good tags (but most importantly DESCRIPTION) then it will be MUCH easier. Google analyses the description the most because that's how they analyse if the video's a good match to the searched term, that's because they don't have a bot that can watch the video...so the description's the only thing they can base it on (and tags ofcourse but don't use too many).

Okay I know I'm contradicting myself here but for certain cases this isn't true. There's a particular keyword which I am ranking for on my website than on my video, even though it's the same content and my website's a joke in the eyes of google!

Gotcha, but what about SEO? How do some youtube video make it on first page of Google and some don't?

  • yeah Dr.'s right. Although I find that getting backlinks to the video isn't so important, as long as you get a couple of imbeds then you're good to go. Description and title's the way to go, then tags, try to use only about 5 to 10. Hope this helps buddy.
