Hi Offline warriors

I am currently working with some local business. However I would like to know from my fellow offline warriors:

Which Wordpress Theme do you think is the best for local SEO ? (you know dentist + city)

The same goes for lead generation, Which theme would be the best? (free and paid)

Thanks in advance warriors

These are some of the best professional business wordpress templates. Here is one example of a site I built using Ithemes.com (www.acupuncturesolutionsonline.com)

You would never even guess that this is a wordpress template. The original template wasn't near as good as the end result but these templates give you great ability for changing pretty much everything around. The membership for the 6 month or yearly is the way to go.

You can make your money back with one site. Check them out and let me know what you think. They got some nice templates to choose from. Also they have great support and webinars and great tools for building sites.

Heres the link: iThemes : Business WordPress Themes Since 2008

      Good luck!
Gary - did you use Builder to design the acupuncture site? I'm currently on the ropes about what to buy to use to build multiple client sites. 1 page small business sites.

      Hey Gary,

Your Acupuncture Site looks great. Do you do any work for Warriors who need similar sites built?

Let me know. I would be interested in your services.

      Thx

OK, ithemes.com is absolutely amazing! I'm sold. Yes, I picked it up yesterday, using that coupon code I posted right above. Don't know if that coupon is still good, and no, I'm not an affiliate...... YET.

There's going to be a learning curve, but the flexibility is exciting. It's nice to finally have found something I'm excited about using.

With that coupon, I picked up the Builder plugin with the 39 child themes that you can morph into ANYTHING your creativity can come up with. All that for $67.90. I don't consider that "pricey".

iThemes are very good. Builder is highly customizable and modular. However, the best thing is they actually have support. Most theme companies have user support forums, however iThemes has paid moderators that quickly answer your questions which is very helpful. I've used others and found I seldom can get a decent answer to my questions.

The local business theme is nice. I would also look at the Builder theme from iThemes. It's pretty easy to change your css style sheet once and then use that as a template for your local sites.

Honestly, when it comes to SEO, I don't think the theme is that important.

After all, when said and done, Google's spider is only looking at the HTML on the page and the linking structure of the website.

All Content Management Systems deliver HTML and link in an equal manner.

If you want to improve a client's SEO, then focus on the content included in the site and links to the site.

Now that we have eliminated the smoke and mirrors of SEO-Friendly websites, we can talk about your other question.

Lead generation is simply a question of whether your page layout and copy can lead a user to take the action you want them to take.

With an information website, the challenge is to provide enough links on a site to enable the visitor to navigate to find the information they want to find.

A sales page would share all of the information that needs to be shared to lead the reader to hit the Buy Now button. Depending on the offer, this may require several pages or just one.

With lead generation, most marketers only want to provide one choice for the reader and that is to take the desired action. But two choices are always present, in that the reader still has their Back button available.

WordPress themes tend to be designed in one of two formats: information themes and sales themes.

Information themes want to increase linking opportunities, while Sales themes want to minimize distractions.

So long as you have a solid understanding of what you want to do, then finding the right theme becomes an easier proposition.

Given what you have said in this thread, I would advise you to explore the available themes that call themselves "Sales Themes".

Everything else is a matter of personal taste.

Thanks Bill, really good info (post#7), concerning the above quote I was wondering about the page load times for some of these themes. Someone did a comparison of load times a while back for some of the Catalyst, Headway type themes (sorry can't find the link) and I remember that some had load time issues, I think I read that Headway has since fixed some of the problems with their theme. If you're doing 1 page small business sites and can customize graphics yourself (or have access to someone) then I'd go with the free Ten Theme (sorry I think that's the name). It has everything you need for customization without requiring alot of additional programming support and is a great place to start.

I actually like the look of that Mystique free theme that marketingrep posted. That paid theme for $97 honestly does not look very good. It's incredibly dated looking, no rollovers, cramped text size, etc... the only thing I like is the right hand column with contact info.

If I were spending around $100 I would pick up the pagelines platform pro to make some really nice looking sites. If I just want a cheap template with the site already done for me, I wouldn't pay anything over $50. Heck, even this bizlocal theme someone mentioned in another thread looks way better than that $97 one and it's half the price.

Taste is subjective. I like it and apparently, a lot of people love it because it has sold like hot cakes. It's an outstanding theme and theme design is what I do. Price didn't matter to me. I loved the theme as soon as I saw it.

I agree, I think its a very well laid out theme and im about to pull the trigger on it. If i wanted to add video to the main / slider area or maybe where the opt in box is, i could just use a WP video plugin right? Plus, it must be good since you bought it and you're a designer. If i may ask, why would a designer buy a theme?

I've never used a video plugin, but you can alter the theme sidebar just by going into Appearances > Edit > sidebar.php and just insert in there what you want in there and remove the top autoresponder box if you want to.

I don't design templates from scratch. I use a template and redesign over and over again into different color schemes and niches. The 2nd line in my sig is the kind of work I do on templates. But I always start with an outstanding template.

Couldn't agree more. While I love the idea of the theme, the design of the theme is at best mediocre. I'm not a designer, btw, but I know what I like.

Here is another method to consider. The clients that I've worked with seem to want customized websites. I deliver on what they want by providing mockups before I actually build the site.

In the past, I built the sites myself using Wordpress and retail themes. Now, however, I find it easier to hire a designer that can build the site from the mockup on top of a standard Wordpress theme that you get when you first load WP. This allows me to spend more time marketing and less time fiddling with templates.

The cost of hiring someone to build a custom site on top of a standard theme can be very reasonable. I bet there are good Warriors here who can do this type of work.

    Good luck.

Elegant themes seem to have some amazing designs for wordpress, and look very professional as well, and they can be edited well to look to however you want them to look!

The only thing I noticed about iThemes is there is only 1 year free theme updates. What happens after that first year? Do you have to pay for updates? It seems most sites have lifelong updates. I use Thesis on many of my sites, but it is more of a platform than a "theme", but very customizable and TONS of support. I have been looking at ThemeForest and I have also used Elegant themes in the past.
