Kopmpozer question about text

I'm sure this is something small but I cant seem to figure it out. I am using kompozer and following a wso video tutorial that I bought. Here's the question. I have inserted my banner and I now want to insert text below that so I go to the right end of my banner and hit 'enter' to take me to the space below. I type my txt and it seems to me like the software is still considering that part of the image. I can change font size, color etc but I cannot center, none of the other txt options are available. What am I missing?

    Try highlighting your banner and clicking on "Insert" then "HTML..." and make sure you are typing outside of the "<div>" tags. hope that makes sense.
