Which of these Joomla portal templates do you prefer?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to create a portal/membership site and have found these two templates, each of which has elements I like, but I can't decide. Which do you think looks best from a visitor perspective?

What will be the general content of your site? It really makes a difference when deciding on the "look"

  My plan is to make an online magazine style membership, community and learning site. These two templates are the best I can find in a weeks worth of searching.

I prefer the first one, it just seems alittle neater and i like that the sections are clearly defined.

  I prefer the first one because IMHO the second one looks a tad too much like the NY Times' website.

I like the First One! Its a Bit More Spacious. No Stuffing is Done.

Here's another option for you: Joomla Templates - RocketTheme Joomla Templates Club Demo Site

Using RocketTheme and their Gantry System (it's very easy to use) you can stack modules very easily and get the portal look that you seek, they also have a mockup of Reuters site that you might like here: Joomla Templates - RocketTheme Joomla Templates Club Demo Site

  I had my eye on this one actually. This would be a good landing page for a community site. I think I might get more people sticking around the site with a magazine style one though and use Modulus for something else.
  
  Thanks for the suggestions. I do like RocketThemes, especially the Mega Menu I think it's called where you can click tabs for new content and stay on the same page, love that.

  Thanks everyone for your suggestions and comments. I was also leaning towards the first one so I'm glad the vote is pretty much unanimous. Plus I won't need to customize much with the template so I can just focus on the content.
