Hi guys, today i saw the good news, my site got suspended from hostclear due to massive usage of their servers. this was made without a single warning in order to do some actions and i had hosting plan with unlimited bandwith etc. the worst thing is that i cant even access my cpanel - they suspended me from there too, and i cant do a backup. i had 3.000 members and now i dont have a site. they told me to go to a dedicated server with a better price due to their incovinience but im not sure if i want to..+ i dont know if i will be able to transfer my site there.

any help will be appreciated

i have 2 older backups tar.gz and sql.gz

Sorry to hear that. What kind of sites do you have in that account to achieve that high volume?

Ouch. Thats a big bad ass site (pardon my french). You should know that volume would mess with your small hosting account limits. Now it's time to invest in another solution, most probably a dedicated server. Ás long as you can monetize the site properly, it's your best option to avoid future problems in another hosting company.

thank you guys for your replies-support, i talked to a really understanding guy at their support who let me access my cpanel and after some changes i've made i think i will be able to run it again without having to pay for a dedicated one.

    Thanks

Your site data is safe, this happens on Shared Hostings. Where unlimited data is never unlimited. Its in the fine print. But the good news is that your data and your members are safe. They can transfer all your database, site info, to a virtual private server. This will probably be more expensive per month, but if you have 3K members it will be worth it in the long run as you grow your online business. We use JaguarPC for all our sites, We have colocation, but there vps are pretty cheap. Just so you know it is illegal for them to keep your data. So you can do whatever it takes to get it back if they are based in the US

If you do end up upgrading, I would stick with Hostgator. They'll be able to move your stuff for you without a problem.

Move up to VPS or dedicated.

If you don't know how to run and secure a server yourself, you really need one maintained for you. Some of the cheap server prices you see online require you to set it up and secure it yourself.

I'd pay more for peace of mind.

I love Hostgator and have sites there for many year (5 I think)

Sounds like it had to do with crons settings, I tried to set up a penny auction site and went through the same thing because the crons job setting was at 1 min. Which they called cpu abuse.

No biggy other than thinking too big and investing in a few domains and desiging a logo for the first one, I'll turn it into a Blog about penny auctions later.

But learned my lesson about crons jobs LOL!

If you did not have a back up of the site it sounds like you had it installed by someone else, ask them for a backup of it or contact the company that suspended you for a back up of the site and databases membership/articles. They should be able to provide them from a backup before you were suspended. I wouldn't wait too long though, mst do back ups on an average 3 day basis.

My guess is that it was turned down because it looks suspiciously like spam. Like others have said...

    1. no website ate root level
    2. no real design or navigation
    3. all the blog entries have the same date
    4. the about us page links to an entirely unrelated industry. so, again it makes this site look like worthless spam

Thank you guys for your replies, i contacted their support which was really very fast and after making some changes on my site, it does not longer use excessive storage on their server.

things are back to normal again but i think i should stick to a dedicated server because now i may lose the "traffic explosion" i had the past days.
