My keyword is "4x4" yet I view source and see "4Ã--4" Why?


ACtually, my keyword contains the phrase 4x4 but in source its being not being expressed, which is not very helpfull.


This is a wordpress site, running CTR Theme

What I see is Ampersand Hash 215 semi-colon!

    That is HTML code for character "Ã--"
    All major search engines can translate these, so that's not the problem...

    Bigger problem for you is that people search for 4x4, with the letter x and not the character "Ã--" and that effects you ranking and traffic.

      erm... I`m not sure what you mean here, I`m using the letter x?!?!

      So, this suggests its being changed from letter to char!?

    Hmmm, if I capitalise the X then it seems ok

    straight into the backend of Wordpress, bog standard WP install (I've only been using WP for a couple of weeks, I`m a Joomla bloke really)

    Are you sure that it was a letter "x" because the letters html code is "& #120;" and the symbol "Ã--" is the "& #215;" that you mentioned.

    Did you maybe copy that from somewhere? Because in some fonts those two look exactly the same.

    And I have never had any problem like this with WP

    Hmmm, it looked like the letter x, but its hard to say.

    I dont know if its the font or what; but the numbers are er... lower, slightly, than the letters - I`d say thats the font though.


    Saying that, I did paste the copy from Open Office, so perhaps thats where its gone wrong.

    Its fine now with the capitol X, it dont look too bad and more importantly Google will parse it as the correct keyword - so from that perspective I`m happy. But, its niggles me when there`s an error and I cant work out what caused it?!?!

    Perhaps Open Office is the cause?!
