I want to use Google Analytics so I signed up and it gave me a code to paste to the specific sites I want to track. I don't know where to paste it. Where in wordpress do I go to add Google Analytics?

Thanks

In a standard WordPress theme, open up footer.php and just before the </body> tag paste the analytics code.

The new asynchronous Google Analytics code should be placed on the header.

You can also just install the Google Analytics Plugin here: WordPress › Google Analytics « WordPress Plugins

I find this the better solution so you don't have to leave your dashboard to get your statistics.

First have a look at the theme you are using, if it is a premium theme it may already have google analytics functionality built in.

Second, I would go for a good Google Analytics plugin. Go to plugins and do a search for Google analytics.

Here are some that I've found:

    Google Analyticator
    Web Ninja Google Analytics
    Google Analytics for WordPress
    The Google Analytics for WordPress
    Google Analytics Dashboard
    Simple Google Analytics

You could use a plugin to do that. But why would you when it's very easy to do it manually..

Dashboard -> appearance ->> Editor->>> Choose "Header.php" ->>>> Put GA code right before the "</head>" tag.

Thats it! No plugins eating up your server resources..

Yeah, just install the plugin that others have posted on here. You'll install it and activate it. Then, you need to enter the unique analytics ID in the plugin and you're done. Don't mess with header/footer files.
