Adding Chinese in the body of an HTML file

Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to add non-english (specifically, Chinese) into an html document so that it shows up on the webpage? I am writing the html on notepad, in english, and adding chinese gives me error msgs and question marks in the place where they should appear.

Just to clarify, in case this comes up -- I do have chinese on my computer and can see it normally / type it in other programs, however I don't know how to translate the characters into the html...

Thanks!

    Not enough info...

Most likely you are facing an issue related to wrong (mismatch of) charsets.
The editor you are using AND the html file AND your browser should have all the same charset to be able to see non-English characters.

(I mentioning the browser, too, because some people set them for a certain language and charset, over-riding the web page's setting... So, leave it to recognize automatically)

I'd suggest having the charset everywhere set to utf8.
