I am editing a series of videos, using sony vega pro, to put on a paid membership site I am working on. I'd like them to be streaming videos with the option to download.

I was wondering what format I should be saving these videos in?

I am currently saving them as an .avi file but I have a feeling there is a better option.

Thanks for any input!

I am creating videos and from what I have seen others do they offer .mp4 and/or .flv. Most people can open either of these video formats easily as best I can tell. I will probably offer both and let other people choose. There's also a program that let's you strip the audio from a video for mp3's. Good luck with your project!

Both is avi. If its uncompressed avi it will have very high filesize and if it is encoded with Xvid codec with a decentenugh bitrate , it will give lowest filesize. Basically more than format it would depend on video/audio bitrates and codecs used

FLV all the way in my opinion. Flash video is so common throughout the web now that there is no good reason to go any other way!
