I need some information on Wordpress. I'm not familiar with all the ins and outs, plugins and functions. I need to be automated as much as possible.

I ran across a template on DoshDosh...Prosense that is set up for adsense. I would have posted the link but I'm not sure I'm allowed to post links in my peon status here.lol Can anyone comment on this template or suggest something else.

Am I correct that I can't use adsense with free Wordpress.

I know these questions have probably been asked a million times, sorry for the redundancy.

Are you talking about using a Wordpress blog hosted by Wordpress? If so, i'm not sure on their advertisement policy. However, if you are hosting it yourself then adsense is fine!

What parts of your site are you looking to automate?

Yes, you can plug your adsense on a Wordpress hosted account. However, you will be very limited in anything else -vs- hosting it yourself.

If you want to enter the automated content sector, then I would suggest, spending the $15/year in hosting, and get your own WordPress hosted account. WP is free, you just need a domain ($10-15 @ godaddy), and a hosting account, and your all set. Just google WordPress hosting, and a TON of sites will come up. Just pick the best that suites you. Many hosting accounts include WP in the Fantastico section. Just click install, and your done.

    Good luck!

Yea, try getting a webhost that allows you to host multiple domains on 1 account for 1 price. Then you can install Wordpress on your own server / domain which is waaay better all around.

Allows ads and you can totally control everything down the road when you understand more and want more power of how your site ranks in the SERP's

yep it's worth the (usually small) investment to host your own wordpress, you don't really need any plugins to run adsense, just add the code to your theme files. 10 minutes trial and error is all it takes!

Thanks everyone for the replies. If you could indulge me just a little more I have a few more questions. Since I've never done this it's a little hard to visualize the process.

Ok, I already have an account with Host Gator. Got one site with HG that I've pretty much abandoned. I have the HG "Baby" account.

My Plan: Have several "Wordpress Niche Sites" using this template a Wordpress template I found at DoshDosh "Prosense"..I can't post the link..not enough post made.

I want to have separate domain name for each site...not subdomain because there would be no correlation.

I assume each domain would have it's own root folder?

Where I'm confused, well let's say one area I'm confused on is this...I have already downloaded the Prosense template.

What are the steps in putting this together?

      1. Buy Domain name thru HG for 1st wordpress niche site.
      2. Go to Cpanel...Install Prosense Wordpress template using Fantastico?

How do I tie or associate my domain name to the uploaded template?
Do I have to upload a new Prosense template for each niche site?

Thats enough for now, my head hurts!

I hope someone can make sense of my confusion!

      thanks in advance

          Hello:

Since you have a "Baby" hosting account at HG, login to your Cpanel - click on the Fantastico button. You will then be able to install the WordPress software in the main directory of your website - so that when someone goes to:

http://www.mydomainname.com - then the basic WordPress template will show up.

At the time of installation, you will be asked to specify an admin username and password. Make these unique, and write them down.

After the main installation of WordPress (hopefully it is version 2.7), you will then be directed to the administration area of the WordPress enabled website which will be: www.mydomainname.com/wp-admin

Click on the admin link from the link provided in Fantastico. Bookmark the link. You will then be able to login to the administration area of WordPress.

Now you need to go back to your main Control Panel page for your domain name. Click on "File Manager", specify the domain name's files. Open up the wp-content/themes directory, then upload some of your favorite themes.

Now you login to www.mydomainname.com/wp-admin site in your browser. On the left hand side of the admin page, more than half-way down on the page, there will be a heading of "Appearance". Under that heading is "themes". Click on themes. You will then be able to specify which theme you want.

          Hope that helps-

          Linda

Hi, I followed your instructions and everything went fine until I logged into wp-admin. All the images on the page are not showing up "x",when I click on themes, same thing "x". Can't access "Dashboard".

What went wrong? Was I suppose to upload a theme to HG?

            Holy Moly
