Dreamweaver CS4 Viewing Problem

I just started using Dreamweaver CS4 instead of Kompozer.

I have a three column liquid layout for my website, and I find that when I'm using the split or design view, the middle column (body column) of my template is so narrow that it makes it hard for me to work with it.

For a past few years I've been using Kompozer and I don't want to go back to it because I now know it adds redundant code.

Anyone know how I can hide or eliminate temporarily the left and right columns?

I appreciate your input.

    I dont think you can hide stuff in dreamweaver, would be awesome though.

    It's ages since I used DW4 in anger, but I remember it doing that when no column widths were set and you entered content into the left and right columns.

    Don't know if it will work, but try specifying widths on those columns if you haven't already.

    The alternative is to use it as I ended up doing - as a glorified text editor.

    Learn HTML and CSS. Create templates from scratch. Reuse the codes and stylesheets, after a while, it becomes way faster to create new designs.

    Back to your problem, add display:none to the left and right columns and remove that style after you're done with the middle column. Don't know if it helps because if you know codes, you won't build with graphical user interfaces.

      Are you sure you want to stay with the liquid layout? It is difficult to control the flow of your site. What will it look like on small screens and mobile devices?

      You can temporarily set widths on the columns with css like width:800px; or on the two columns you want to hide, add display:none;

      Of course you'll need to take them out once you are done but you'll be able to see in the preview pane better.

      Woman: How much do I owe you for the sketch?
      Picasso: 5000 francs.
      Woman: But it only took you 5 minutes!
      Picasso: No madam, it took me all my life.
