I don't know if this is a newbie mistake but im using Socrates wordpress theme and I've found out tonight that the box is ticked that post/page titles are in H1 tag.

But when I run SEO pressor it doesn't take into account the H1 tags in title so I've been adding extra H1 tags in posts just to get a high seo pressor score.

I dont like these and only put them in for SEO so could I delete them and take it as granted that the titles are H1 even though seo pressor doesn't show this?

Cheers

Try using H2 tags in your posts instead. These also have high benefit for SEO and your posts and title are already H1

    ^^^ this.

Semantically you should really only have 1 h1 tag per page, unless you are using HTML5 and you have sections/articles. Socrates is XHTML transitional, so stick to h2s in your posts.

H2 is your nice choice! Had better not add too much information about your own product or service.

H3 tags and bolding can also be effective. Also note that most SEO auto-detection plugins only look at meta tags and post content, not the actual entire post. For example, the title tags that are set in your template and not part of the post body content. So the "missing H1" is likely a false positive
