selling webdesign services - alternatives to PayPal?

Hi there,
I'd like to advertise for my husband's webdesign work (not on here). But what's holding me back a bit is that PP seems to be usual way to get paid. What internationally accessible alternatives are there?
We're English speaking, stuck in an non-Engl. sp. country. Offline advertising is not really the way to go for language reasons.

I hope someone might bring up some alternatives. There's always more than one way of doing something, right?

Many thanks.

There are many alternatives, but its rare to find others that use the same. Paypal is by far the most common for people to use. Try Checking out Moneybookers or Alertpay

Go for swreg and alertpay. Swreg is actually better because those who trust paypal will be able to pay you via paypal but you will receive the money in your swreg.

Only downside is not being able to access the cash immediately like in Paypal.

The "only" downside is that Paypal is horrible, but SWREG will keep 100% of your money forever, because they simply don't pay, they make up reasons
so that when you withdraw your money,
they just keep everything and stop replying to emails.

There are many warnings all over the internet about SWREG scam

SWREG is a "merchant" that keeps not a fee, but 100.00% of your earnings.

SWREG customers beware « Successful Software

        SWREG are scam.

Got many friends who got burned, SWREG always kept ALL THEIR MONEY
they made, and stopped answering e-mails.

They are smalltime scammers, with their enticing 0% fees ... they attract all naive vendors of the world...

That's superb!! I already have an Alertpay account. But I was concerned about the fact that many people trust PP. It's great there's something that enables them to use PP while I'm avoiding it. Is that also available internationally, since our location is non US?

PS: After our experience with PP, having to wait for the cash doesn't even count as a downside.

You can always just get in touch with a credit card processing company and get your own credit card terminal.

Credit cards are available world wide, and many business owners got one.

Well, over here in Germany, people are very credit card lazy. You can handle everything with bank accounts very well, so there is no real need.

Thanks a lot for that input, also the warning about SWREG. I certainly have a problem with PP taking a percentage of every transaction. I'd rather pay a fixed fee for the account. But it's worrying if it's hard to access your earnings at all.

We are in fact in Germany temporarily. I like the fact that you can do bank transfers most of the time. But we're not experienced enough with the language to set up a business any time soon. And we're looking to move on soon anyway.

So, to conclude, thanks for the amazing tips. I though this thread had died since my last post.

yes moneybookers is just ok, they charge a lot at the automatic conversions they make, but apart from that they're quite fine.
