I have read all the guides out there but I can´t figure out how to
change the header on my wordpress sites

I´m using the the theme pixelated and coogee.
Is there themes that simple can´t be altered, seems like with these.

Appreciate any help or advice.

Sincerely
Karl

    Aloha Karl

If you are using WordPress 2.7 you can edit the header as follows:
    1. Select "Appearance"from the left-side menu
    2. Select 'Editor"
    3. The current theme files will be displayed in the right-side panel
    4. Look for "header.php" - This is the file you want to edit

On the off-chance that your theme does not use a header file look in the "index.php" file. The header code will probably be directly after the <body> tag.

Hope this helps, please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

    Try this...
    1. Find the file containing the actual header graphic i.e. .jpg or .png, then download it to your local computer. You can locate it by right clicking the image to give you the absolute image location i.e. yoursite.com/wp-content/theme/images/header.jpg
    2. Rename your desired header image the same name as the default graphic.
    3. Upload it to the same file on your server, an dclick yes to overwrite graphic.
Wordpress will simply think that its the same graphic and display it. Make sure that the size of the graphics are about the same. If something looks or goes wrong, you have a backup image on your computer.

If you are using firefox, grab the plugin 'firebug' - install it and this will give you the exact location of any code on any website for any element that you want to edit or replace.

Right click with your mouse over the header location, click on 'inspect element' and it will tell you the exact location of the header so you can alter or replace the image.

Not sure if this will help, but firebug totally rocks!

  • First thing you should get is it's FTP server then compile it on FileZilla to change whatever you like to change. Remember: It doesn't work on codes or script only as long as you have the FTP. Goodluck.
