Wordpress Pages Help

WEB DESIGN

I have a website set up with several pages of information outside of the blog. There are links to them all in a bar at the top of the page.

I have made several other pages as download pages, thank you pages, and pages with information for my workers. How do I keep these from being shown from the main page of the site?

I tried making them private but then people can't see them if they aren't logged in.

You can then specify which pages show up in navigation.

Use the "exclude pages" plugin. When it's installed, you'll find the checkbox on the bottom right of your page. It is checked by default, and when you uncheck it, your page won't be seen from the main page.

Is there a way to also keep pages from being found as easily by Google as well for my download pages? Thank you for the plugin, I will install it right away!

  For that I think you need to make those pages private, and let only the users get to that page.

If you have wordpress 3.0 or above, you can create a custom menu and set this menu as primary navigation. If your theme supports it, then it should work

You can actually use the Robots Meta plugin to help prevent indexing of those pages. Meta Robots WordPress plugin - Yoast

It adds a little box to your post / page editing area that lets you set individual content items to noindex,nofollow. Should do the trick.
