Can anyone recommend good tutorials for learning to make a wordpress template?

      Thanks for the replies. I have some undersanding of html and css, very little on php. I have been given a project for college course and to be honest it could be completed in a few days using a wp template - which the tutor said was acceptable. The project is 8 months long and meant to be a big one so im thinking of using this project to gain something useful myself - to learn to make themes from scratch in this time. If it is too much to bite off i can also revert back to the template idea, but would like to learn how to do this as it would be very useful for future employment etc

    Lynda.com has a great video serious on this I watched it a couple times and it really filled in a few blanks for me when I was getting started with WP

    if you take a look at Woo themes The Gazette Edition this one is very good for conversion.
