INSTALLING WP THEMES MANUALLY

Okay,

I have a number of WP sites that either I created, or had my

designer create.

When I create one...I normally go to my host's cPanel and

install the THEME directly from there....I DO NOT

know how to install it to my hosting if I just got the files

on my computer to download and put up on my host/url....

The reason I ask is because...there are themes on FREE WP

THEME sites that I want but I don't touch because I can't put

it up myself....I have to ask my designer for it.....

THANKS FOR ANY HELP

    It's very simple.

Either upload the entire zip file (which contains the theme) using the uploader feature within Wordpress or ftp it up into the "themes" folder which is in your wp-content folder which resides in your blog root directory (folder).

Once you've done that you will then "see" the theme as an optional theme in the theme section of your Wordpress control panel, you'll be able to test it and then select it as your theme. Ask questions on anything you don't understand above.

      Hey,

      thanks for your help BILL...

I've attached a screen shot....where is the FTP ICON that I should use?

And the WP uploader ( I clicked on the WP icon) and the new installation page came up....this seems like the easiest option but I just need to get pointed in the right direction....

      Thanks again.

I'm a bit confused; are you referring to installing Wordpress or a Wordpress theme into an existing Wordpress installation.

In other words, have you installed Wordpress yet?

Wordpress theme into an existing WP installation...

In other words....there are some themes that I'd like to install manually

that I cannot find when logging into wordpress through my cpanel....it's like the search function doesnt' pick up all of the themes there...so

if I downloaded them from a site in a zip file...how do I do it?

Where would I go to in my cpanel to be able to upload it.

That's why I sent you a screenshot of my cpanel....there are 3 different icons that have ftp in their names....but it sounds like

uploading it to the WP loader...that you mentioned..sounds easier...so I was wondering how do I access it....

      Again...thanks for your consideration...

That screen pic was too small to see anything but to install a new wordpress theme all you need is to log into your wordpress back end and install it using the upload feature.

You can log into your wordpress back end by going to yourdomain.com/wp-login.php or yourdomain.com/blogdirectory/wp-login.php then just go to the appearance section and click on Themes then click on the Install Themes then click on the Upload link and browse to the zip file that holds your theme and upload the entire zip file (as it is). Wordpress will unzip it into the right place and you can then choose it from the available themes.

If you're not familiar with uploading files onto your server it's the best way to do it.
