mark here is this real...if you are going to be an internet marketer, do 1 of 2 things. Use wordpress or get someone to design it for you. Wordpress is quick and easy to use. you can get up and running quicker than designing your own site from scratch. The exception to this statement is if you use a program like dreamweaver and use templates. This method still takes some creativity, not to mention the learning curve of the software you are going to use. But the whole point is "use of your time." If you have the money, then have someone from odesk or elance design it for you. That way you can focus on marketing. But if you are tight on funds, go with wordpress. There are a slew of templates out there. Some will give you a real sleek website look too. Make some money first, then when your time gets freed up more, you can venture in using more web design software like Dreamweaver. Oh, but if you do use wordpress, I would buy hosting and use wordpress that way. Don't go to WordPress.com. Do it through a web hosting company installing with fantastico and you'll have more control over what you're doing.

Why WordPress? It is very easy to use and adding content and new pages is simple. You don't need to know any HTML or upload any files. The WordPress content management system takes care of it for you. It is the best solution when you want the flexibility to add or update your content without having to use any Web Design software. All that you need is a web browser (which you have on your computer--Firefox, IE, Opera, Chrome).
Also, you have a RSS feed for your website. It automatically pings Google and other search engines, which is good for SEO. Then you have a large number of plugins that allow you to enhance the functionality of WordPress.
WordPress is a FREE blogging software.

PS: A large number of websites are built using WordPress and Internet marketers love it. This cannot be just because of some "URBAN MYTH".

Wordpress is a tool like any other. Use it wisely and you will have success, Ignore its foibles and you will find it damages you. The same with any other tool, Dreamweaver, serif web plus, VIM, blogger, etc etc...

There are reams of articles and tutorials on the net about Wordpress and SEO. Read up on those, always consider your SEO strategy and check the code to find what WP is doing.
