I am looking to creating a membership site and looking for the easiest and most cost effective plug in.
Every vendor says theirs is the best, as they would, but nothing beats experience and you guys and gals have boat loads of that so answers please.

There are a ton of comparative reviews on here about membership plugins, so I won't go into detail. What I CAN tell you is that I've used both Wishlist Member and Digital Access Pass and have played around with aMember. Whilst they're all good, all my future membership sites will be on Digital Access Pass!

    Hope this helps!

    -John.

      Thanks John

I know there are loads of posts about this but things move so quickly in this game that a fresh view is always worth seeking.

We could have a Xmas party of 2 with Warriors in the region.

      Regards

      Neil

+1 for DAP. On the long run, the rich amout of features makes the price absolutely no issue, if you are looking for the "best".

Can be a bit tricky to set up / integrate, here and ther,e though....

      Cheers,
      Rob

Let's push the boat out and make it at the posh ones just off the Newbury junction.
Can't remember the name but they are right up there with the best.

The easiest and quickest I have found is WP Memberchamp at Rapid Crush, Inc.
    Great plugin and works perfectly.

If you are talking about plugin in terms of for WordPress

For free: Go to You can download WP Members directly from the WordPress plugins page.

But my favorite, which costs money is: Wishlist Member

You can do so many thing with Wishlist I just love it and wouldn't trade it for any other membership plugin.

I can second for Wishlist member, I use it and its been great for me so far. The free ones will work fine as well, depending on what you are trying to achieve.

Amember is what we use and it is great! I would highly recommend it! There are so many features in it and it is relatively cheap.

If you've not yet made a final decision, you might want to take a look at profitstheme (dot) com.

A multi level membership site and a whole lot more.

    All the best

I find aMember complex to maintain, go with a plugin that is designed for Wordpress instead. I recommend Wishlist Member for the features and ease of use.

I'm new to the game and just spent a few days integrating OptimizePress and DAP together and it was flawless.

I haven't coded in years and I still made it happen.

I reviewed Nanacast as well but $147/mos versus $167 One Time...

        Sign me Up with DAP

          @gahirsh at Post #13...

Do you have the time (or interest) in pulling together a WSO that shows how you did this? If so, I'd be the first to buy it.

            Ina,

The help videos at both DAP and OptimizePress are so comprehensive that there'd be no point creating a WSO!

I have heard great things about DAP and wishlist. I am using s2member (free) with optimizepress and it was fairly easy to implement as a newbie.

My personal favorite is actually s2Member, and though it's free I would have happily paid $200 for it and felt extremely happy with the level of value.

It's incredibly easy to setup, lets you accept one off or subscription payments, has multiple member levels plus infinite custom access options, you can give access to single pages at a time which you can use to sell single products, it gives file download protection, it works seamlessly with the Simpleress forum plugin and there's loads of other things too - those are the features off the top of my head.

I actually like s2Member so much that I paid for the Pro module, which allows integration with ClickBank and PayPal Pro, even though I had absolutely no use for it. I just felt I had to give some money to the devs for creating such a great product.

They also have 2Checkout integration on the way, and once they have that I'm actually planning to dump every other service I use and run completely with s2Member alone.

    Highly recommend s2Member!

I'll second the recommendation for S2 Member. You can start off free and try it out then they have a paid option for more advanced features. I'm using free version to control access to content on each post. ie Some content you can see without logging in and then it tells you that there is more content you can see if they logged in.

Just ran into this post. I've tried several of them.

I'll tell you the worst one first: one by Gootix (aka WP-Board)

I tried the old version and the latest Paybox version. While I know people that have used it successfully, it's confusing and there's barely any support (and I program for a living...so not a non-techie for sure).

On the flip side, there's one called Fastmember at http://www.fastmembershipsites.com

I've built several sites with it and I'm pretty satisfied. The make just released a new version that has multiple levels - I still gotta try it out.
