Dwarfcarracing.com - Dwarf Car Information Since 1999

This site took me about 20 hours in design time.

My experience:
This is my third Wordpress site, I have been tinkering with Wordpress on and off for about a year, html/css for about three.

The site itself has been around for 10 years, but I redesigned it for a friend to give it a less static look, and give it a more "web 2.0" look.

Questions:

The ads at the top must stay. They are site sponsors and pay monthly fees. I know they look atrocious at the top, but there's nothing else I can do. Any suggestions on what I could do to ease the ugliness of the ads at the top?

I kept the layout of the actual content and blog simple. I didn't want to go graphics heavy because of the ads. I think it navigates pretty well. Any thoughts on the navigation?

Any other suggestion on content for the website?

(This plugin is the Pictures Pages.)
NextGEN Gallery - "A NextGENeration Photo gallery for the Web 2.0."
