Editing HTML using cPanel File Manager

Hey everyone. Any help is appreciated.

I'm trying to edit an HTML file using File Manager within cPanel. I'm not sure why I'm having this issue, but it's been happening for the last few days.

When I right-click and select HTML edit, then file opens, but it's only the top half or third of the file, not the whole thing. If I open the file in a browser window, I see the whole file just fine. It's only when I view it with file manager in cPanel. Did I accidentally change something that I don't know about?

    Hi Matt,

How come your editing directly in your cpanel? I think your having a cookie or browser history issue, hold down shift and refresh your browser.

Here's a free html program. That along with filezilla you will be in much better shape than coding in cpanel~
KompoZer - Easy web authoring HTML Program
    FTP Uploader Filzilla http://filezilla-project.org/

Thanks Lorrie Jean. I was actually looking for a good HTML editing program. I downloaded KompoZer and that's exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks to everyone else too, my issue is resolved.

Definitely better off editing locally, then uploaded via FTP.

I use Notepad++ for editing html and php scripts. But, I took a look at the kompozer website and it sounds pretty interesting. It has a option of editing the GUI which is not there in np++.... Thanks for the suggestion of the tool...

All you need to HIT the little refresh button if the files is not getting loaded. This often happens in cpanel editor. Files will not be loaded fully and there will be problem in typing new lines. Refreshing will solve the problem.

I also use cPanel File Editor from time to time to make simple edits on some files. It takes longer to download it, make changes and upload. I don't know what browser you are using but Firefox seems to be the best for working in File Manager.

I always use "Code Edit" option to edit my files. Do you have the same issue when you try "Code Edit"?

Yes. Even in code edit this occurs. What I think found is when the internet connectivity is very low, this problem occurs. I have a ordinary connection which is less than 2 mbps and I face this issue often.

Then, it will be best to download the files and work on them locally and then upload them.

Just for changing one single line, downloading the file and making the changes makes it still worse. I use filezilla to avoid such issues. I just told the reason behind such lags. That's it. Using a FTP will be a good choice.
