Is it possible to edit WP site offline?

Hi,
I'm little confused about how to do outsourcing in order to build sites/pages or edit existing sites.
(Unlike articles where I don't have to give my details)
If I don't know the person yet, and I want him for example to build me a small site/theme on wordpress, so it's dangerous to give him my User Name and password, so how can i start working with freelancers for design issues?

    How does it help me? I need to know if it is possible to edit the site offline, so I can sent it to someone to work on it and then upload the site or some pages of it.

    Create a temp password. Or use yousendit for large files to up and down load. Very simple to use.

    Yes, you can edit a WordPress site or create a theme offline.

    If you find a reputed WordPress developer, there is no harm in providing him access to your website. I don't only take WordPress log in details from my clients, but sometimes I ask for CPanel details as well. Once I finish my work, I ask the client to change his password.

    If you want, you can change the password with a temporary one and provide it to your developer. If you just want to have some design work done, the developer can give you a theme without asking you for any password or details. You can then install the theme yourself.

    Over here we do all work offline with Xampp installs in our offline computers. Then Theme is uploaded to our online test server, customer sees it, and we go from there if final retouches are needed.
