Forms on landing pages

1. Any thoughts on placing a simple "call to action" form directly on a landing page versus using a large button linking to a form? Is there a conversion rate advantage with either approach?

2. I see a lot of landing pages with forms without a captcha. Wouldn't they have a serious problem with bots?
